Companies have an impact on society and the environment through their operations, products or services and through their interaction with key stakeholders such as employees, customers, investors, local communities, suppliers and others.
Corporate responsibility means managing this impact so as to add value to the company and increase wider economic and social well-being now and over the longer term.
This one-day corporate responsibility conference will officially launch the results of the BiE Index of Corporate Environmental Engagement and Business in the Community's Corporate Responsibility Index 2002.
The Corporate Responsibility Index will define what corporate responsibility means in practice, setting the management and reporting boundaries against which businesses will be judged. The conference will provide a unique opportunity to explore strategies for sustaining corporate engagement over the long term.
The new Index incorporates the 7th Business in the Environment (BiE) Index of Corporate Environmental Engagement. It will build on the latter's success in engaging board members, by raising awareness of the full range of corporate responsibility issues that are relevant to a company's business. Companies will have the option of completing the BiE Index only, or completing the new overall Index and being reported in both indices.
This conference will be a must for all those in business who are involved in developing and sustaining corporate performance and gaining competitive advantage. It will be of particular interest to:
